It's National Chocolate Cake Day! (and no, not making this up)

Did you know that today is National Chocolate Cake Day? Now that is a fun holiday I am very excited to celebrate!

I decided to make something simple to celebrate. With only the two of us, layer cakes go bad before we can finish the whole thing.

So to find the perfect recipe, I turned to my trusty Better Homes and Garden Cookbook that my mother got me years ago (thanks Mom!). I love this cookbook. Have considered upgrading to a newer edition but really don't think they could have improved it that much.

After flipping through, I decided on the One-Bowl Chocolate Cake.

It is currently cooling. I am planning on making a peanut butter frosting for it later because what goes better with chocolate than peanut butter? Well, maybe caramel. But Matt definitely prefers peanut butter.
